NOURISHED
She was stuck
Formed as someone else’s chest
Dug Deep within old wounds and dirt
Inside her is treasure, latent
A lock that has no key
Hides secrets from the world
Ignorance says to “bust it open.”
Lust says to “pry with anything that fits.”
Anger says “Leave it, it’s just junk anyways.”
But you... You knew.
No foreign object greedily applied would result well.
Oppression and force always yielded unwanted outcomes.
You knew, all it took was time.
Something small and sweet that can take root.
Gentle, gloved hands Do Not wrench her from the soil,
But instead make it home.
Ignorance, Lust, Anger - all saw failure
But love never gave failure a definition
And like a seed, that chest opened from the inside out
Stretched so tall and confident you couldn’t recognize her
There were no diamonds or emeralds
The only gold was that of the sun, beaming
Her treasures were not worldly, or objectively valuable
But she grew out of silver linings and
Sprinkled the land with what she learned from You.
That a nurtured heart glows more brilliantly than any jewel
That all it takes is a little patience
That love is more fertilizer than Key.
They saw her as what they desired.
He saw her for what she could be
Unrestrained, she flourished.
-
And together, they grew.
